NASFAT at Senegal: Tostan and Carter Center are Hosting Participants on Community Development Training.

Nasfat; a foremost Islamic organisation in Nigeria with centres around the world has recently being undergoing series of training to improve leadership capacities of her leaders. This development seems to be the initiatives of the new spiritual leadership of sheikh (Imam) Maruf Onike AbdulAzeez or could it be just co-incidental.

This progress which is giving the association the opportunity to maintain her standard is contributing greatly to the image of Islam and position Muslims to where we truly belong.

One of those training organised recently is that of the Community Leadership and Development Training presently ongoing at Senegal. As gathered on the association twitter page. The training is hosted by Tostan Training Center (TTC) and The Carter Centre.

About Tostan Training Center (TTC)
“At the Tostan Training Center (TTC), Tostan hosts international training courses in English and French on its human rights-based approach to community-led development. Our education model has been consistently developed and updated in response to feedback from thousands of communities in West and East Africa over the past 28 years. Recognizing its proven positive effects for community-led development, an increasing number of community activists, members of local, national and international organizations and governments, as well as representatives from academia and the media expressed an interest in further information and training on the Tostan model. We developed a unique 10-day training that uses a participatory, learner-centered approach, drawing its strength from trainers with extensive experience implementing the Tostan Community Empowerment Program in rural Africa. Our training serves individuals and groups who share a commitment to human dignity, transformative learning, holistic empowerment, and collective action.”

Meanwhile while youth leaders of the organization is among the participants of the various trainings, it is expected that youth need more attentions when it comes to knowledge, skill acquisition and empowerment which is one major aspect the organization is yet to lay more emphasis on.
